Elevating accessibility within Google products
As part of the Products for All team (within Core) at Google, I investigated research questions by reviewing 100+ works of literature on removing barriers to technology access for individuals with vision, hearing, motor, speech, and cognitive disabilities. I provided the team with evidence-based reports and presentations on the findings.
IMPACT
My research informed both Google and the W3C.org's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) - driving impact in 20+ tech product areas for 70M+ users.
My findings contributed to the company's accessibility strategy and positioned Google to secure potential government contracts, bringing in millions of dollars worth of revenue.
CREATING NEW OPPORTUNITIES
As a Noogler working at my dream big tech company, I was eager to learn and participate in as many initiatives as possible. What I loved most about Google was the freedom to create your own opportunities. Through numerous coffee chats, I was able to volunteer for two projects beyond my immediate team.
I orchestrated a 3-day co-design workshop with neurodivergent users as part of a cross-functional team to shape the future implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Google Pixel ecosystem.
I collaborated with accessibility specialists for W3C.org and my managers to conduct A/B testing with 20 participants, improving ease of use for supplemental guidance on WCAG worldwide.
